Bringing hope to Barangay Osang: the Government's Intervention in Education
These have made access to quality education difficult for the community, especially to children, with only 1 school-building serving all the elementary pupils in the barangay. But, with the government's intervention in the form of the Support to Barangay Development Project, a ray of hope was lit for Brgy Osang’s children.
The lone school building, integrated all pupils from grade 1 up to grade 6 in the existing 2 classrooms. The situation was far from ideal, the lack of classrooms meant that pupils had to sit in shifts, compromising the quality of education.
Through the SBDP implemented by the Provincial Government of Northern Samar, 2 more school buildings with 4 classrooms and 6 comfort rooms were built for Brgy. Osang. Aimed to improve the quality of life in the community, the additional facilities are seen to provide a better learning environment for the children. The pupils may now be segregated according to their grade, and have a better chance to learn.
The facility will also attract new teachers who are eager to impart knowledge in a setting more conducive-to-learning. With the improved teacher-student ratio, teachers can now provide more personalized attention to each student, ensuring that they reach their full potential.
The construction of the new school building has not only provided better educational facilities but has also brought employment opportunity to the community. The project has created jobs for local workers, who were involved in the construction process, providing them with an alternate source of income.
The Support to Barangay Development Project is a reminder that with the right intervention, even the most challenging situations can be turned around. The government's commitment to improving the quality of life in the barangays continues, and the community of Barangay Osang is a testament to these efforts. With the improved educational facilities, the children of Barangay Osang now have a better chance to achieve their dreams and contribute to the growth and development of the community.
